Getting Results

For the following areas of use refer below to get the best results using UrineFree.

Carpets/ Upholstery/ bedding & mattresses / wood flooring/ bathrooms / laundry and clothing / synthetic grass will also work on vomit and blood and other protein-based stains – always test for color fastness and apply per instructions.

Carpet

If your pet has had a little accident on your favorite rug or on the carpet in your house, you don’t have to live with the lingering smell of urine for ever: urineFREE can help to get you rid of it permanently.

Conventional cleaners and water will not break down the non-soluble uric acid crystals and they will remain. Only a bio-enzymatic formulation like the one found in urineFREE will remove uric acid crystals for good. urineFREE’s bio-enzymatic action is designed to “eat” these crystals along with the water-soluble components of urine.

Getting the best results

If you have used another chemical or detergent based product to try to remove the urine before urineFREE, these chemicals may have removed the soluble urea and urochrome components of urine but have no impact on the non-soluble uric acid crystals. These detergents may also coat or encapsulate the uric acid crystals making it difficult for urineFREE to penetrate. It is recommended that all other chemical and detergent based products are removed to maximize the effectiveness and results with urineFREE.

Burn marks on carpets

Old urine stains will have greater exposure to the urine and the acidity of the uric acid crystals. In some carpets & rugs, especially wool blends, this can cause irreversible burn marks that have actually discoloured the carpet/rug. urineFREE will remove the urine stain and smell but cannot remove the burn marks. This is why we encourage removing urine as soon as possible for all surfaces, using a bio-enzymatic product such as urineFREE to remove the urine for good.

Upholstery

If your pet has had a little accident on your new sofa or on your upholstery, you don’t have to live with the lingering smell of urine forever: urineFREE can help to get you rid of it permanently.

Conventional cleaners and water will not break down the uric acid crystals and they will remain. Only a bio-enzymatic formulation like the one found in urineFREE will remove uric acid crystals for good. urineFREE’s bio-enzymatic action is designed to “eat” these crystals along with the water-soluble components of urine.

We also recommend using urineFREE before having your couch or upholstery steam cleaned or shampooed.

For leather upholstery please see instructions

Urine stain on your mattress? Use urineFREE.

Accidents happen. Whether your child, your pet or a guest has had a little mishap on a mattress in your home, you don’t have to live with the lingering smell of urine forever: urineFREE can help to get you rid of it permanently.

Conventional cleaners or water will not break down the non-soluble uric acid crystals and they will remain. Only a bio-enzymatic formulation like the one found in urineFREE will remove uric acid crystals for good. urineFREE’s bio-enzymatic action is designed to “eat” these crystals along with the water-soluble components of urine.

Do not use regular detergents

If you have used another chemical or detergent based product to try to remove the urine before urineFREE, these chemicals may have removed the soluble urea and urochrome components of urine but have no impact on the non-soluble uric acid crystals. These detergents may also coat or encapsulate the uric acid crystals, making it difficult for urineFREE to penetrate.

Use enough product for the job & allow time for drying

In order to ensure that the urine remover follows the path of the urine, removes the urine and dries properly, we recommend to completely saturate the urine-affected area in the mattress, which may require a substantial amount of product.

Then allow for a 2-3 week drying period.

Permanent stains

Old urine stains that have not been removed or not removed correctly will have greater exposure to the urine and the acidity of the uric acid crystals. Unfortunately, in some carpets, rugs & fabrics, especially wool blends, the uric acid crystals can cause burn marks that look like a stain but have actually discoloured the carpet/rug or fabric. Please note this is irreversible – urineFREE will remove the urine stain and the urine smell but it cannot remove burn marks.

This is why we encourage removing urine as soon as possible for all surfaces and using only bio-enzymatic urineFREE which will remove the urine for good.

Urine stain on your hardwood floors? use urineFREE.

If your pet has had a little (or multiple) accident(s) on your beautiful hardwood floors, tile or other type of flooring, you don’t have to live with the lingering smell of urine and the stain forever: urineFREE can help to get you rid of it permanently.

Conventional cleaners and water will not break down the non-soluble uric acid crystals (the main culprit when it comes to the odour) and they will remain in your floors. Only a bio-enzymatic formulation like the one found in urineFREE will remove uric acid crystals for good. urineFREE’s bio-enzymatic action is designed to “eat” these crystals along with the water-soluble components of urine.

Black stains on floors/ sub floors

The black stains on the wood floors are usually urine accumulation. As you treat these stains with urineFREE, the black will start to turn grey and progressively lighten.

Any wood damage from the uric acid will be irreversible so you may end up with a patch of light grey on your floor.

Read our instructions page for more details on how to use.

During treatment, often these stains will become darker and the odor greater on the first application. This is common. Repeated applications will see the colour become lighter and the odor vanish.

After you are satisfied you have eliminated all the urine, if the floor is to be exposed or if you are unhappy with the color then sand back the floor to its original state, revarnish and seal.

Don’t use regular detergents

Never use cleaners, chemicals or deodorisers prior to using urineFREE. These products tend to coat or encapsulate the uric acid crystals (the source of the odours) and make it difficult for urineFREE to penetrate. If you have used these products, try to remove as much of the products as possible with water and a clean cloth. Blot, allow to dry and then apply urineFREE.

Black stains on floors

Black staining from long-term exposure is common. Using urineFREE will cause the stain to go grey. Repeated applications will cause the stain to become a lighter grey.

Once treatment is completed and all urine is removed, if the floor color is unacceptable, sand the floor back to its original colour and reseal.

Bathrooms

Urine odor in bathrooms & toilet areas is quite a common smell, despite your best efforts to continuously clean the area. Porous grout and porcelain toilet bowls are the perfect environment for long-term build-up of uric acid crystals (the main culprit in urine smell) to thrive.

urineFREE can help to get you rid of it permanently. Our bio-enzymatic formula eliminates the urine smell and the source, leaving you with a sparkling clean, odor-free bathroom.

Conventional cleaners and water will not break down the non-soluble uric acid crystals   urineFREE’s bio-enzymatic action is designed to “eat” these crystals.

Regular detergents are ineffective

If you have used another chemical or detergent based product to try to remove the urine before urineFREE, these chemicals may have removed the soluble urea and urochrome components of urine but have no impact on the non-soluble uric acid crystals. These detergents may also coat or encapsulate the uric acid crystals making it difficult for urineFREE to penetrate.

Find old stains with the detector

Sometimes old urine stains are invisible to the eye, but certainly not to the nose!

The urineFREE Urine Detector includes a light which is designed to detect the protein in urine. Dried urine stains will fluoresce in a darkened room, making it easy to find the area of the surface or fabric with the urine stain and remove the urine odor.

Urine stain on your clothes? Use urineFREE.

If your child has had a little accident and you find yourself with a urine stain to clean on clothing, towels or bedlinen, know that conventional laundry detergents will not permanently remove the urine stain and odour. They will most likely only hide it temporarily.

But you don’t have to live with the lingering smell of urine forever: urineFREE can help to get rid of it permanently.

Conventional cleaners will not break down the non-soluble uric acid crystals, responsible for the odour.

Getting the best results

If you have used another chemical or detergent based product to try to remove the urine before using urineFREE, we recommend that all other products are removed to maximize the effectiveness and results with urineFREE.

We also recommend to use urineFREE before having your clothes dry cleaned or professionally cleaned.

Get rid of the urine smell in your backyard or enclosed areas

Synthetic grass or concrete areas that have been urinated on repeatedly by your pets (usually dogs) or other animals are likely to smell quite strongly, especially on hot or humid days where the uric acid crystals (the source of the urine smell) are activated and release the odor.

Artificial grass is usually built on a crushed rock or sand base with small holes in the material to allow for drainage.  Urine tends to seep through the grass, into the rock and sand. When urine dries, it crystalizes. It is these uric acid crystals that are difficult to remove. The same is the case with concrete, block and paving stone patios and walkways.

Conventional cleaners and water will not break down the non-soluble uric acid crystals and they will remain. Only a bio-enzymatic formulation like the one found in urineFREE will remove uric acid crystals for good. urineFREE’s bio-enzymatic action is designed to “eat” these crystals along with the water-soluble components of urine.

urineFREE or yardFRESH/ Envirowash?

We recommend using a combination of urineFREE as the main treatment to remove urine odours; and yardFRESH/ Envirowash as a more affordable “touch up” to maintain results for longer (and more cost-effective).

urineFREE is an all-in-one urine stain & smell remover that removes all urine — cat urine, dog urine, other animal & human urine.

yardFRESH / Envirowash is not a urine remover, it is a high-performance odor eliminator.

How much product to use?

The amount of product you are going to need depends on the amount of urine that has been deposited and the porosity of your synthetic lawn or other outdoor area.

A dog (depending on size) can urinate anywhere between 200-2000ml each day — therefore we cannot recommend an exact quantity as every case is different.

If your pet is going to consistently revisit this area, complete removal can be costly but regular maintenance will help reduce the long- term odors.
